Explain one of the three cases against Christianity and Chesterton’s response.
- Men are much like beasts (and therefore not that special in creation)
A: We are similar to animals but so unlike. Apes have hands and the ability to do so much, but why don’t they do anything with them? We are so different that it requires an explanation.
Chesterton believes three things need to be explained, (which leads us to the Christian answer)
- The towering eccentricity of man among animals
- A vast tradition of an ancient happiness
- Partial perpetuation of joy in Catholic Countries
