Aims to seek long-term change employees skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviour in order to improve work performance in the organisation. Types of training include job experience, action learning or competency based training.

Development refers to the process of further improving employees so that they can be prepared to take on greater responsibility in the future. Development aims for the further improvement of employees. Types can include mentoring, job rotation or formal business training.
