What is the mons pubis?

A

What is the labia majora?

A

Fatty cutaneous folds forming boundary of pudendal cleft. Round ligaments of uterus end in the front of each labium. Have an anterior and posterior commissure

What is the labia minora?

A

Cutaneous folds without fat, lie internal to majora and form the boundaries of the vestibule of the vagina

What is the clitoris?

A

Lies in front of labia minora. Homologue of penis, although not associated with urethra. Fromed by 2 miniature corpora carvernosa without CS and glans is highly sensitive

What is the difference in perineal membrane when compared with male?

A

wider but weaker. Pierced by vagina and gives attachment to crura of clitoris. Provides ischiocarvernosus muscle to clitoris and supports bulbospongiosus muscle.

What is the bulb of the vestibule?

A

Mass of erectile tissue on each side of vagina and urethra, join in front of urethra and pass forward to glans of clitoris. Each bulb is covered by bulbospongiosus muscle, whose fibres extent from perineal body round the vagina and urethra to clitoris (form perineal sphincter for vagina in addition to its pelvic sphincter

What are the greater vestibule glands?

A

Glands of Bartholin. Pea shaped masses 1cm in diameter. Lie each side of vagina opening at 4 and 8 O’clock. Open via duct into posterolateral vaginal orifice. Provide minor lubrication, homologues with bulbourethral glands. Can be infected, bartholinitis.

A

Very small mucous glands with minute openings between urethral and vaginal orifices.
