Mental health
The “thinking” or “rational” dimension of our health.
Intellectual health
A subset of mental health in which a person has the ability to learn and use information effectively and strive for continued growth
Emotional health
The feeling, or subjective, side of psychological health
Emotions
Intensified feelings or complex patterns of feelings that we experience on a regular basis, including love, hate, frustration, anxiety, and joy
Emotions are described as the interplay of what four components
Physiological arousal, feelings, cognitive (thought process), and behavioral reactions
Emotional intelligence
The ability to identify, use, understand, and manage one’s own emotions in positive and constructive ways
Social health
Aspect of psychological health that includes interactions with others, ability to use social supports, and ability to adapt to various situations
Social bonds
The level of closeness and attachment that we develop with individuals
