  3. sedentary LS, poor diet
  4. diabetes mellitis
  5. alcoholism/ corticosteroids/ cig smoking
  6. short stature, low body weight

What are the 4 ways osteoporosis can be prevented?

A
  1. weight bearing exercise ( exp 25-40)
    2, increase dietary intake calcium to 1500 mg/ day
  2. get ample amounts vit D : food source ( fortified breakfast cereals, vit D sup/ sunlight: according to NIH 10-15mins)
  3. decrease intake of carbonated drinks
