Cells and Body Systems Flashcards

1
Q

Why should a toothpick be used to lower the cover slip over a wet-mounted specimen on a slide?

A

A toothpick is used to lower the cover slip so that it can be more easily lowered keeping one edge of the cover slip on the slide. In this way, any air bubbles present are squeezed out as the cover slip is lowered.
Dropping the cover slip onto the wet mount will usually trap large air bubbles under the cover slip with the specimen, obscuring the image.

17
Q

Heart

A

Body cells to capillary then to veins, to the heart then to the arteries, capillary and back to the body cells

18
Q

How does heart pump blood

A

Deoxygenated blood to the vena cava, right atrium to right ventricle then to pulmonary artery, to lungs then to pulmonary veins to the left atrium to the left ventricle then to the aorta which has oxygenated blood to the body.
