Test 3, Ch. 29-35 Flashcards
Electromagnetic Induction
if you put a changing magnetic field inside a loop of wire your can make a current in that wire
How can we change induction?
by changing the size or orientation of the loop
or by changing the magnetic field of a stationary loop
Process to induce a magnetic field
induce a voltage to induce a current in the loop to induce a magnetic field
Lenz’s Law
oppose change
For example: oppose a changing magnetic field by creating an equal in magnitude and opposite in direction magnetic field
Electro magnetic spectrum
radio-micro-IR-vis-UV- x-ray -gamma ray
What type of voltage does a volt meter read?
V(RMS)
Resonance
Make the impedance as small as possible
Step up transformer
V2>V1
V2
What determines color?
frequency
Dispersion
each wavelength has its own index of refraction(n)
Polarization
Polarized filters only allow 1 orientation of the electromagnetic field through
