normocytic: haemolysis, chronic disease, acute blood loss, CKD, BM suppression, endocrine
macrocytic: B12/folate (megalo), alcohol/liver, reticulocytosis, haemolysis, drugs, MDS/MPN, myeloma, hypothyroid

haematinics (iron studies)

A

IDA: low iron, low ferritin, high TIBC
sideroblastic: high iron, high ferritin, normal TIBC

chronic disease: low iron, high ferritin, low TIBC

haemolysis: high iron, high ferritin, low TIBC
haemochromatosis: high iron, high ferritin, low/normal TIBC
pregnancy: high iron, normal ferritin, high TIBC

thalassaemia: normal iron; high retics

A

failure: aplastic anaemia
infiltration: inflam/leukaemia/lymphoma, sarcoid etc.
fibrosis: dacrocytes, splenomegaly
myelodysplasia: hypercellular, abn cells
myeloma: paraprotein, ESR
