39
Q
  1. Explain how muscles work as a pair to bend and station the arm at the elbow causing movement at the joint. Make sure y discuss the type of joint movement.
A

Flextion of a joint is a decrees in the joint angle from the body in anatomic position. When the elbow is bent the forearm is flexed which means that the flexor is contracted or has pulled the bone of the forearm. Most flextion takes place I. A forward direction. The exemption to take is the leg where flextion of the leg results in the vending of the knee. Exception of the joint is when the joint is returned to anatomic position or increased the angle of the joint, which means the extensor is contracted. An example of this is when triceps brachii (extensor) contracts to straiten the arm. The biceps brachii muscle (flexor) in the upper arm contacts to bend the elbow. Muscles work in pairs so that that at the same time the biceps brachii muscle (flexor) contacts to bend the joint and triceps Brachii returns to its original length. To straiten the arm or extend the joint, the triceps Brachii (extensor) contracts while the biceps brachii returns to its original length.
