Stabilised Approach Criteria
A
All approaches must be stabilised by 1000ft above aerodrome elevation in IMC and 300ft above aerodrome elevation in VMC
CRITERIA AS FOLLOWS
- Aircraft on correct flight path
- Only small changes in heading and pitch required to maintain correct flight path
- After the FAF in IMC, the aircraft is established within the appropriate handling speeds for the category
-Within 3 NM in VMC or on finals following and instrument approach, the aircraft speed is no more than Vref +20kts and not less than
Vref -0kts for the flap position in use
- The aircraft is configured for the approach and landing
- No changes are to be made to the configuration below 300ft
- Sink rate no greater than 1000fpm
- Power appropriate
- Briefings and checklists complete by 300ft
- Within half scale deflection on an ILS
- Wings level
***An approach that becomes unstable below 1000ft above aerodrome level in IMC or 300ft above aerodrome level in VMC requires an immediate go around.
