What is migration?
The movement of people internally or internationally.

What are citizens?
Those people who have full rights within a country e.g. right to vote.
What are denizens?
Privileged foreign nationals e.g. billionaire oligarchs.
What are helots?
Disposable labour power found in unskilled, poorly paid work. May also include illegally trafficked workers.
How has the gender division of labour been globalised?
Almost half of all global migrants are now female and they usually end being given gender stereotyped roles such as carers or providers of sexual services.
What are assimilation policies?
Policies which aim to encourage immigrants to adopt the language, values and customs of the host culture.
What is multiculturalism?
The idea that migrants may wish to retain a separate cultural identity.
Why is assimilation bad?
It ay encourage workers to blame migrants for problems such as unemployment. This benefits capitalism by dividing the working class.
