Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
The heat transfer of electric magnetic waves.
Convection
It is the transfer of heat from water and gas.
Conduction
Is the transfer of heat through touch.
Physical properties
Can be observed or measured without changing the composition of matter.
Physical Changes
It does not change its physical composition. Like changing its color.
Chemical properties
Happens after a chemical reaction which changes it’s whole property. Burning wood.
Chemical changes
Happens when another substance combines with another to form a new substance.
Average speed
Distance divide by time. Describes how far an object moves during a certain amount of time. Example A car moved 100 meters in 20 seconds average speed 5 meters per hour.
Velocity
Describes the speed and the direction of an objects motion.
Friction
Friction is a force that occurs when two objects rub against another. Friction slows objects or stops them. It also produces heat.
Newton’s First Law
When an object n motion it wants to say in motion. When an object is at rest , it wants to stay at rest.
Newton’s Second Law
When 2 forces on an object are balanced, the object does not move. When the forces are unbalanced, the object moves.
Newton’s Third Law
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Action - Reaction.
Force
Is a Push or Pull.
