rates of reaction
-For Measuring Gas:
- use conical flask, with tube leading to measuring cylinder with water
-record volume of gas made very 10 seconds
-plot results on a graph, x axis being the time, y axis being the volume of gas
-gradient = rate of reaction
-repeat for different concentrations of acid
chromatography
-put a drop of mixture near the bottom of a piece of chromatography paper (stationary phase)
-draw a pencil line (mobile phase), acts as reference point
-secure paper on a rod over a beaker with a small amount of distilled water such that the bottom of the paper touches it
-wait for the water to move (diffuse) up the paper (through capillary action), moves particles from the mixture upwards
-calculate Rf values, subsatance movement divide by water movement
-movement is calculated from the pencil line
