How is Quinolones similar to Cephalosporins? Elaborate.

A

Both Quinolones and Cephalosporins have 4 generation of drugs.
For the Quinolones:
1st generation: used to treat uncomplicated UTI
2nd gen: gram + cocci, gram - rods, mycoplasma and chlamydial infections
3rd gen: does a better job than 2nd gen
4th gen: gram + cocci, gram - rods, gram + bacilli, and aerobic organisms
