● Test 1- Letter-Word Identification
Measures reading sight vocabulary and decoding. The student is asked to read letters and read words from a list.
Test 2- Applied Problems
Measures math problem-solving skills and the ability to apply math to real life situations. The student is asked to solve math word problems involving applied topics, such as time, measurement, money, and the interpretation of graphs.
● Test 3- Spelling
Measures fine-motor skills for preschoolers and spelling skills for older students. The student is asked to write letters and words stated orally.
● Test 4- Passage Comprehension
Measures reading comprehension skills. The student is asked to read short passages and supply key missing words that makes sense in the context of the passages (cloze technique).
● Test 5- Calculations
Measures math computation skills (involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, algebra, and geometry). Math calculations are completed with paper and pencil in the test booklet.
● Test 6- Writing Samples
Assesses higher level writing skills or the ability to convey ideas through writing. The student is asked to write meaningful sentences about picture cues or verbal prompts.
Test 7- Word Attack
Assesses reading decoding and phonics skills. The student is asked to read nonsense words. (As the words are meaningless, the student can not use sight vocabulary or context and must rely solely on phonics skills.)
Test 8- Oral Reading
Assesses accuracy and ease of oral reading. The student is asked to read sentences of increasingly difficulty aloud. Reading errors, including mispronunciations, omissions, insertions, word substitutions, and hesitations are noted.
● Test 9- Sentence Reading Fluency
Measures reading speed. The student is asked to read short sentences within a 3 minute time limit and indicate whether the sentences are true by circling “yes” or “no”.
● Test 10- Math Facts Fluency
Measures the ability to work quickly with math facts. The student is asked to perform simple math computations within a 3 minute time limit. Math signs shift from addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
● Test 11- Sentence Writing Fluency
Measures writing speed or the ability to quickly construct simple sentences. The student is required to write as many sentences as possible within a 5 minute time limit when provided with 3 key words for each potential sentence
● Test 12- Reading Recall
Assesses meaningful memory for material read. The student is asked to read a short story and then retell as much of the story as he/she can recall.
● Test 13- Number Matrices
Measures math reasoning skills and the ability to see patterns. The student is presented with 2 or more rows of numbers and asked to provide the missing number(s).
● Test 14-Editing
Assesses proof-reading skills. The student is asked to identify grammatical and spelling errors in sentences and passages.
● Test 15- Word Reading Fluency
Assesses both word knowledge and processing speed. The student is asked to mark the two words that go together in each row within a 3 minute time period. (The correct matches are synonyms, antonyms, or members of the same category.)
