Q

Practice an oral presentation of the coracobrachialis muscle

A

Location: part of the anterior brachium compartment, spans between the scapula and the humerus, crossing the shoulder joint

Function:
assists in flexion of the arm
assists in adduction of the arm
resists shoulder dislocation

PA: coracoid process of scapula
DA: middle third of medial humerus, superior to proximal attachment of brachialis
NS: musculocutaneous nerve (C5-7)

Q

Practice an oral presentation of the biceps brachii muscle

A

Location: anterior brachium compartment, crosses the shoulder and elbow joint

Structure: two headed muscle (long head and short head) converging in a common tendinous insertion distally

Function:
flexion of the forearm
supination of the forearm

Anatomy:
PA:
long head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
short head: coracoid process of scapula

DA: radial tuberosity, bicipital aponeurosis and fascia of the forearm

NS: musculocutaneous nerve (C5-7)

Q

Practice an oral presentation of the brachialis muscle

A

Location: part of the anterior brachium compartment, located deep to the biceps brachii and inferior to the coracobrachialis

Function: flexion of the forearm

Anatomy:
PA: medial humerus, inferior to distal attachment of coracobrachialis

DA: coronoid process and tuberosity of the ulna

NS: musculocutaneous nerve (C5-7)
