A
  • Unbalanced forces are acting on our bodies or objects when we create or modify movement.

Q

Force-time

A
  • The greater time over which force is applied, the greater the resulting motion.
  • AKA Impulse

Q

Inertia

A
  • The heavier an object, the more effort it takes to move.

- Objects resist change from their current state, inertia is a measure of this resistance.

Q

Range of Motion

A
  • Relates to the type of motion, angular or linear, of body segments used to execute a movement.
  • Reduced range of motion is best for low force, speed and high accuracy.

Centre of Gravity

A
  • Centre of mass

- The point in which the weight of the body is evenly distributed around.

Q

Stability

A
  • Refers to the position of line of gravity is in relation to the base of support.
  • The larger the base of support, the more stable the body.
  • If the line of gravity is within the base of support, the body is balanced.
  • Can improve stability by:
    • Increasing base of support
    • Lowering the centre of mass
    • Increasing the mass of the body

Coordination Continuum

A
  • Sequential movement = low force/high speed

- Simultaneous movement = high force

Segmental Interaction

A
  • Projectile gets released at greatest possible velocity
  • Limbs fire so that the greatest velocity can be achieved
  • Big to small
