A

The Colwyn Committee 1924-1925 reduced the Imperial Contribution, freeing up money for the government to spend on Welfare that was much needed.

BUT

The government had “few of the levers” of economic policy (Jackson), they could not solve the underlying problems in the economy as a result that caused unemployment.
