Dry wall finishing level 1

A

Used in plenum areas above ceilings.
Some degree of smoke control is provided, referred to as “fire taping”, but does not typically meet fire resistant assembly requirements. Surfaces shall be free of excess joint compounds. Tool marks and ridges are acceptable.

A

Be used with a setting-type compound for areas where water-resistant gypsum backing board, is used as a substrate for tile.
Standard for garages, ware house and storage. Places where appearance is not important.

is the highest quality finish is the most effective method to provide a uniform surface and minimise the possibility of joint photographing and of fasteners showing.
Can use a high gloss paint or where there is critical lighting

Wire shields aka nail plates

A

Are small 1 1/2 inch (stud width) by 2 inch metal plates with four pointed legs that get hammered into the stud faces. install shields wherever a fastener might protrude into wiring or piping running with in a stud.
