Atropine adverse effects

A

Hot as a hare–increased body temperature (decreased sweating)
Dry as a bone–dry mouth, dry skin
Red as a beet–flushed skin
Blind as a bat–cycloplegia
Mad as a hatter–disorientation
*Also causes constipation
*Can = acute angle-closure glaucoma in elderly (mydriasis), urinary retention in men with BPH, and hyperthermia in infants
