Special Qualification Airport: FOM 4.6.1

It is the responsibility of each pilot and the Company to maintain special airport qualifications. The Company cannot assign, nor can a pilot serve, as PIC to or from an airport determined to require special airport qualifications unless within the preceding 12 months:

A

• The PIC or SIC has made an entry into that airport (including takeoff and landing) while serving as a flight

crewmember; or

  • The PIC has qualified by using pictorial means; or
  • The ceiling at that airport is at least 1,000’ above the lowest MEA or MOCA, initial approach altitude

prescribed for the instrument approach procedure for that airport, and the visibility at that airport is at least three (3) miles.

What Hazmat may we accept?

A
  • Class 8 = corrosive (wet wheelchair batteries)
  • Class 9 = Dry Ice 5.5lbs per package, 440lbs total per aircraft (package must allow for gas to escape without rupturing.
  • Biohazard label may or may not be on a package containing human organs. (Infectious substance = NO GO.)
  • Tire assembly = may be inflated but must NOT be inflated more than gauge pressure in excess of maximum rated pressure for the tire.

Stabilized by 1000’ AFE (IMC or VMC) and remain stabilized until landing, if not a go-around must be initiated.

What are the parameters?

When should the captain take the flight controls from the FO?

  2. braking action is less than “Good” (mu <40)
  3. crosswind component is greater than 15 knots
  4. Any reported windshear in the airport vicinity

  6. Operating at any Special Qualification Airport

Other circumstances as determined by the Captain such as operation with an engine inoperative, mechanical malfunction or similar potential hazardous situation.

MedLink provides 24-hour medical consultation service for the following:

  • Any in-flight medical emergency and advice is deemed necessary
  • Passenger pre-screening
  • Medical guidance and international referral service for crewmembers who experience an acute medical

condition while overnighting at an international location outside the contiguous 48 states.

When MedLink services are used, MedAire assumes liability for the emergency caregiver as well as the

What is the process for battery operated wheel chairs?

  1. The actual weight of wheelchairs will be obtained from the customer.
  2. A “HEAVY” tag is placed on the wheelchair.
  3. The Ramp will check “YES” on the EX-0011 wheelchair box and indicate the weight and location in the remarks section.

Note: Wheelchairs cannot be removed in weight and balance situations.

  2. Goto PERF, fuel management pg 3, input holding fix to destination and get fuel required
  3. Plan on a full app and assume it takes approx. 15min

Go to Fuel management pg 1 input bingo fuel into RESERVES and TIME TO RESERVE says time to bingo fuel

4th Segment – Flaps up to 1st power reduction; climb gradient 1.2%

TAF: 0300Z 010@5 3SM - It’s legal to depart

Note: if you are within an hour of the destination, the metar would be controlling

Add minimums to highest HAT and Vis of the approaches you’re using.

If airport has 1 operational navaid with approach: add 400/1

If airport has 2+ operational navaids with approaches: add 200/ ½

  1. Think Airport not runway
  2. How many navaids and runways?
  3. Look at weather to determine suitable runways at ETA
  4. Dispatch will use lowest minimums to get you in, make sure they don’t screw you with an unusable runway You can ignore one navaid if you like and just use 400/1.
    * Wind gusts are limiting when selecting an alternate!*
