L3 Flashcards

1
Q

State the structure of a transcription unit

A

Structure gene: Gene being transcripted

Promoter sequence: Recognised by transcription factors (protein) and then
guide RNA polymerase to attach to gene

Termination sequence: Ends
the transcription process

Regulatory genes: Tells a cell when, where and under what condition to transcribe information, and how much mRNA has to be transcripted

Transcription factors: Bind to regulatory and other parts of the gene that regulate protein synthesis
