Q

Why are emerging continents now increasing their rate of urbanisation?

A

In emerging countries, there are more tertiary jobs becoming available in the city which pay more than the primary jobs being done rurally. This means that young workers are moving into the city and starting families.

Q

From 2010 to the future, how has the rate and level of urbanisation changed and why?

A

Most of the developed regions (north America, Oceania, Europe) have already become heavily urbanised due to the higher number of jobs in the city, but as they make more money they leave causing the rate and level to stay the same. Asia and Africa are behind in urbanisation and now the number of jobs in the cities are rising so more people are moving in causing the level and rate to rise.
