Q

Can we think of International English as a combination of BSE + ASE?

A

To me, I don’t think it is because now more than ever is there a demand for other languages to use their own languages and influence English, so that they can make it their own.
I mean, the type of ‘Internationl English’ in which the country uses as a standard for the country, may be either BSE/ASE however there is now that element of how do we make English our own?
Such as in lingua franca settings and contexts where business persons can communicate with their different varieties of English and create something to be able to communicate effectively.

Q

Does Internet help influence the spread of International Englishes?

A

Yes and No.
Whilst there is a growing trend and feed of English resources and media for language learners to pick up from and learn, there is a now a greater ever more larger community of varieties of languages for people to come be part in. Once, English was the dominant language with the creation of Internet and Google leading the platform it was a language to be looked up to. Now, there is an uprising for people to start accepting their identity and be proud of the languages they speak that they were so heavily repressed upon in the past.
