ABG with p02 < 7.3 kPa
Or 
ABG with p02 7.3-8 kPa AND one of :
- secondary polycythemia 
- nocturnal hypoxaemia 
- peripheral oedema 
- pulmonary hypertension 

The ABG should be done 2 times, 3 weeks apart.
