When would we use the EMER FLAP switch?

EMER FLAP switch is installed to allow limited flap selection in the event of a mechanical failure of the Slat/Flaps Control Lever. When deployed the EMER FLAP switch input to the SFECUs overrides the Slat/Flap control lever input and causes the slats and flaps to extend to the “20 position” (Flaps 20 / Slats 20)
