  1. Hip is first flexed and abducted
  2. Gradually adduct
  3. Attempt to gently DISPLACE hip out of the socket over the posterior acetabular rim

  1. Hip is dislocated in position of flexion and adduction
  2. Gentle flexion, abduction, and slight traction reduce the hip
  3. Positive sign indicates a more unstable hip than the Barlow’s
