What is Adaptation?
Organisms and Microorganisms adapting to live in different environmental conditions in order to stay alive
What are the three ways organisms and microorganisms can adapt?
Structural, Behavioural and Functional
What are extremophiles?
microorganisms that are adapted to live in very extreme conditions
How are Arctic Foxes adapted to their environment?
They have white fur so they are camouflaged against predators
How are blue whales adapted to their environment?
They have a thick layer of fat and a low surface area to volume ratio to help them retain heat
What is an example of an animal that has adapted its behavior?
Swallows migrate to warmer climates during the winter to avoid cold conditions
How are bear adapted to their environment?
Bears hibernate over winter, they lower there metabolism which conserves energy
