  • A type of LTM
  • Also known as implicit PROCEDURAL AND EMOTIONAL memory
  • Learnt actions and skills
  • Stored in LTM
  • Retrieved unconsciously or unintentionally (happen automatically)
  • Not consciously ENCODED or RETRIEVED
  • ‘Knowing how-to’ memory: carrying out learnt tasks automatically

  • A type of LTM
  • Also known as explicit (Declarative) memory
  • LTM store for SPECIFIC FACTUAL information and events with personal significance (Names, dates, words)
  • Information is consciously recalled and expressed (DECLARED) Often recall holistically
  • More complex than implicit memories
