In 1956 flights began again with permission from Eisenhower using U2 planes, so they knew ab the nuclear capability of the USSR.

Khrushchec mad saying each flight SPAT IN THE FACE OF THE SOVIET PEOPLE. however didn’t have proof.

A
1960 before the 4 power summit, U2 plane had been shot down and kept prisoner. Exchanged. US denied at first then admitted to spying. Khrushchev didn’t attend the summit worsening relations
