Respiratory Diseases; Asthma
It is an allergic response to foreign substances that enter the body.
Foreign substances may be; Animal skins Feathers Bird excreta House dust mites Pollen grains
It is a respiratory condition marked by attacks of spasm in the Bronchi
causing difficulty in breathing and narrowing of the air passages.
Asthma Symptoms
Shortness of Breath
Chest tightness
Coughing or wheezing attacks which causes a lack of sleep
The Causes of Asthma
Not clear
Most likely due to a combination of environmental and genetic (inherited) factors.
Risk Factors of Asthma
Increase chances of developing asthma;
- having a blood relative with asthma
- having another allergic condition
- Being overweight
- Being a smoker
- Exposure to secondhand smoke, fumes or pollution
Respiratory Diseases; Bronchitis
Bronchitis is the inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from the lungs.
Bronchitis Symptoms
Similar to common cold symptoms
Cough becomes productive, with white, yellow or green mucus being coughed up.
Causes of Bronchitis
Often develops from a common cold
Risk Factors of Bronchitis
People who have a greater risk of developing Bronchitis include;
Older people
Young children
