What does du’a mean?
Du’a (supplication) means asking.
Du’a may be a prayer where a Muslim asks Allah for help, forgiveness or even thanks.
Define supplication.
The action of asking or begging for something humbly.
What is the importance of du’a?
Du’a prayers show faith in Allah’s closeness (immanence) and they can be said at any time of the day in any language.
Define immanence.
Conception of God as being present throughout the universe + the material world.
What numbers of prayer beads do Muslims use and why those particular numbers?
33 or 99 beads.
99 beads to recite the 99 names of Allah.
The 33 beads would be used in a rotation of three times.
Alternatively, they can also be used to repeat phrases.
Why use prayer beads? What is the point/purpose?
It helps in the counting process and allows the people to concentrate on their prayer, and perhaps not be preoccupied with counting.
Why do some Muslims think it is not important to use prayer beads?
Some Muslims see it as unnecessary as prophet Mohammad did not ever use them.
