Aphasia
A loss of some or all previously intact language skills, caused by brain disorder/damage
Broca’s Aphasia
A form of aphasia characterized by a disruption in producing speech
Wernicke’s Aphasia
A form of aphasia characterized by a serious disruption in language comprehension and the use of invented words
Conduction Aphasia
A disruption of language in which a person has difficulty repeating what has been heard
Anomia (anomic aphasia)
A disruption of word finding or retrieval caused by brain disorder/damage
Alexia (Dyslexia)
A disruption in the ability to read or recognize printed words/letters caused by a brain disorder/injury
Agraphia
A disruption in the ability to to write, caused by a brain disorder/damage
Pure word deafness
Disruption of the perceptual or semantic processing in auditory word comprehension
