A

This refers to economic and social problems experienced by those living in areas of multiple deprivation. Types of deprivation includes education, housing, income, health, services, crime and living environment.

What are the problems with cultural diversity?

A
  • can cause racial intolerance due to jobs being taken e.g. NHS
  • new migrants are poor, multiple occupancy in rented accommodation within poorer inner city is widespread
  • schools being dominated by one ethnic group changes curriculum
  • migrants may wish to follow their religious calendars, causes friction with employer
  • women from ethnic groups may have less employment opportunities due to religion

What are the ways to manage economic equality?

A

Living wage - a wage calculated on basic living costs, provides dignity
Schools - improve quality of teaching and school enrolment rates
Affordable housing - reduces inequality
Public transport - saves people money
Fairness commissions - allow people to speak about what is unfair in their area
