what is biofuel?

Made from organic material (biomass)- which plant and animal material can be sourced from many existing industries (agriculture and forestry)
Offer an alternative to primitive fossil fuels (coal and gas)- non renewable
e.g of biofuels yeast, bacteria, cyanobacteria and algae

-Biomass waste contains high levels of sugar particular cellulose and starch (plants)
- For use the biomass needs to be liquefied by heat treatment, mechanical disruption or enzymatic digestion.
