7-1 Lines & Planes and 7-2 Angles Flashcards
(26 cards)
point
A location. A point has no size. You name a point by a capital letter.

line
A series of points that extend in opposite directions without an end. You name a line by any two points on the line or by a lowercase letter.
ray
Part of a line with one endpoint and all points in the line of one side of the endpoint. You name a ray by using two points starting with the endpoint.
segment
Part of a line with two endpoints and all points in between. You name a segment by its endpoints.
plane
Flat surface that extended indefinitely in all directions and has no thickness.
intersecting lines
- Lie on the same plane.
- Have exactly one point in common.
parallel lines
- lines in the same plane that never intersect
- parallel segments and rays lie in parallel line
skew lines
- lie in different planes
- they are neither parallel nor intersecting
classify
To arrange or group things according to their characteristics
sketch
to draw something without using a scale
identify
to recognize and be able to tell what something is
45 degree angle
half of a right angle

90 degree angle
a right angle

135 degree angle
a right angle and a 45 degree angle

180 degree angle
a straight angle
angle
an angle is formed by 2 rays with a common endpoint called a vertex
vertex
the vertex of an angle is the point of intersection of two sides of an angle
acute angle
an acute angle is an angle with a measure between 0 and 90 degrees
obtruse angle
an obtruse angle is an angle with a measure greater than 90 degres and less than 180
right angle
a right angle is a triangle with one right angle.
straight angle
a straight angle is an angle with a measure of 180 degrees
complementary
two angles are complementary if their sum of their measures is 90 degrees
supplementary
supplementary angles are two angles whose measures add to 180 degrees
adjacent angles
anjacent angles share a vertex and a side but have no interior points in common
