7. Hypothesis Testing Flashcards

1
Q

What is a hypothesis test?

A

A hypothesis is a test made about the value of the population parameter

To carry out a hypothesis assume ho is true then consider how likely the the observed value is to occur

When the observed value is less than the significance level then H0 ( null hypothesis) can be rejected.

What is a critical Region?

A

A CR is a region of the probability distribution which, if the test statistic falls within it, would cause you to reject H0
