7
Q

How is operation affected when the HT winter shutdown mode switch is in NORMAL?

A

When outside air temperature falls to 36 degrees, the Outside Air Dampers and the Recirculation Damper will reposition such that 75% of the air comes from outside and 25% of the air comes from the Turbine Building

When outside air temperature rises to above 36 degrees the dampers will reposition back to normal such that 100% of the air comes from outside
The ‘A’ Turbine Exhaust Fan will stay running when the Winter Shutdown Mode Switch is in the NORMAL position

8
Q

What happens when the HT Winter Shutdown Mode Switch is placed in AUTO?

A

Outside air dampers and recirculation damper will shift to the 75% outside 25% Turbine building position

When outside air temperature drops to 36 degrees the A Turbine Building Exhaust fan will stop

When outside air temperature rises above 36 degrees the A Exhaust Fan will start

16
Q

How many normal roof exhaust fans are provided for the HT system and what is their purpose?

A

Four fans provided to exhaust warm air from the turbine building ceiling area and to help force air up from the lower elevations

17
Q

How many fans are provided for the non-class battery rooms?

A

Two 100% capacity normal exhaust fans

18
Q

How would I know that a non-class battery room exhaust fan flow is low?

A

Low flow switch will cause an alarm at the local panel and in the Control Room

19
Q

How many fans are provided for the Lube Oil room in the turbine building? What is their purpose?

A

Two 100% capacity normal exhaust fans

remove combustible gases and heat generated in the area

20
Q

How many exhaust fans are provided for the elevator room in the turbine building?

A

One

21
Q

Where is the HT Demin Area Fan Switch located?

A

100’ Turbine Building East Area

22
Q

Where is the HT Elevator Exhaust Fan Switch located?

A

194’ Turbine Building Elevator room

23
Q

What happens to the HT system if NKN-D41 is lost?

A

Power is lost to the Turbine Building HVAC panel, which means any operations will need to be done at the breakers

24
Q

When does the HT system operate? Is it required for safe shutdown?

A

continuously during all modes

not required for safe shutdown

25
Q

How does the HT system interface with the OW system?

A

AHU evap cooler sump overflow drains to the OW sump in the plant north yard

26
Q

What does each HT AHU consist of?

What electrical protection do the AHUs have?

A

pleated filters
WETdek evap. module system
moisture eliminator
vane-axial fan

over current

27
Q

What HT exhaust fans have auto features?

A

A exhaust fan only

28
Q

What is the difference between the control switches for the HT normal AHUs and the other HVAC equipment in the turbine building?

A

normal AHUs have a spring loaded return to neutral switch

everything else has a two position selector switch

29
Q

What components does the HT cold lab ACU consist of? How is it controlled?

A

heat pump, blower unit and a moderate efficiency filter

thermostat

30
Q

What effect does the Ultrasonic Flow Measurement device in the switch gear room have on reactor power? What would cause the UFM to be lost?

A

affects feedwater flow to the steam generators, limiting power to 98%

loss of the supply fan or air washer
