A: Muscular Slips from outer surface of ribs 5-12, lateral lip of iliac crest, linea alba

A: compresses abdominal contents, flex trunk, bends trunk to same side, turning anterior part of abdomen to opp. Side

N: Anterior rami T7 to T12

B: superior and inferior epigastric arteries

Internal Abdominal Oblique

A

A: Thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest (between origins of external and transversus), lateral 2/3 of inguinal ligament, inferior border of lower 3-4 ribs, line alba, pubic crest, pectineal line

A: Compresses abdominal contents, flexes trunk, bends trunk and turns anterior abdomen to same side

N: Anterior rami T7 to T12, L1 (iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal)

B: superior and inferior epigastric arteries. Deep circumflex iliac artery

Transversus Abdominis

A

A: Thoracolumbar fascia, medial lip of iliac crest, lateral 1/3 of inguinal ligament, costal cartilages of lower 6 ribs, line alba, pubic crest, pectineal line

A: compresses abdominal contents

N: Anterior rami T7 to T12, L1 (iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal)

B: inferior epigastric artery, deep circumflex scapular artery

A: compresses abdominal contents, flexes vertebral column, tenses abdominal wall
