Q

What is a parotid gland?

A

Composed of only serous acini Apical regions contain zymogen granules RER predominates in basal regions of secretory cells

Q

What is a submandibular gland?

A

Mixed w/ both muscles and serous acini but serous is predominate For me crescent shape around mucous acini and are called serous demilunes Myoepithelial cells around acini

Q

What is a sublingual glands?

A

Mixed glands but mucous acini are predominate Flatten nuclei at basal poles of cells Mucous acini (pale in appearance and PAS+)

Q

When looking at diagrams, what are the differences b/w striated and intercalated ducts

A

Striated ducts are…… Simple Cuboidal to simple high Cuboidal Bigger than acini

Q

What is loose (areolar) CT

A

*(Adult) *Fibroblasts > Fibrous components *Type 1 Collagen +elastic fibers Beneath Epi T of most organs Fibroblasts, mast cells, macro phases and capillaries

Q

What is dense connective tissue?

A

Dense Fibrous components > Fibroblasts Regular Run parallel Thick organize bundles separated rows of fibroblasts tendons and ligaments Irregular Not organized parallel boundless Thick bundles of Collagen fascia, submucosa of GI

16
Q

What is adipogenesis?

A

Mesenchymal cells that have not differentiated become white adipose cells. White cells can only become Brown. But once you go brown you come back around

17
Q

What is lepton? (Not testable, just in case)

A

Tells you if you release fat or store fat. Assoc with insulin

18
Q

How are Collagen type 1 created??

A
