BUT used transitive lu in a compound tense (with an object) the moral verb changes to avoir

ie ils ont passé on bon week-end.

Example: manger quelque chose (you can eat something a noun). Je mange une salade…

Dire is also transitive- Je dit il été très horrible.. (I can say something).

BUT Aller is intransitive! I can not aller quelque chose or go something…

Partir vs Quitter

Partir is Intransitive therefore requires a verb plus prepositional phrase

Ie, il est parti du bureau à cinq heures du soir..

Quitter is a synonym verb BUT it is transitive so can be used verb plus noun!! Other verbs are like this too.

Ie Il a quitté le bureau à cinq heures du soir.
