Why do they stop and search?

A
  • In case they think you have committed or witnessed a crime or offence
  • believe you are a terrorist
  • or to prevent an act of terrorism.

A
  • In case you have committed a crime or have a link to a crime.
  • for example if you have possession of a knife.

  • if there has been a complaint about your behaviour.

- if they have witnessed unruly behaviour which could cause a complaint.

  • if they think your are in possession of drugs, firearms or stolen property.
  • if they have a warrant they will let your read it.
