Blocking causes uptake in the soft tissues - this is abnormal. - BE AWARE OF IT if they say they tried to block the damn thing

When a lesion is so high intensity that it takes away intensity from the other normal bones.

Ratio for thyroid scan in cat and dog
1: 1 with zygomatic salivary gland - Cat

How many mCi of Tc99m do you give for thyroid scan in a dog?
3-4mCi
How many mCi of I131 do you give a cat with T4 > 13?
<13?
>13 = 4mCi <13 = 2mCi
Why should you not give CT contrast to a dog with a thyroid mass?
Because if they want to do I131 treatment, you have now overloaded the thyroid gland with iodinated contrast which will inhibit I131 uptake.
Now you must wait 4-6 weeks before treatment

If the thyroid lights up with a Tc99m bone scan, what is the matter?
Poor labeling of the Tc99m — the Tc99m should all go to the bone and not the thyroid if labelled correctly. If not it goes to the thyroid as well.
If you notice that a horse has diffuse loss of uptake throughout a bone scan, what are two reasons why?
Not enough agent
Renal failure
If you notice a weird spot of uptake on outside the bone in the distal limb of the horse what is two reasons for this?
1) They did a block that that causes uptake
2) The horse took a piss and splashed some on its leg
- —how you can look for this is whip the leg down with a cloth and put the cloth in front of the gamma camera. If it lights up you know it was on the leg.
What is the legs of a horse do not have great uptake but the rest of the body does?
Legs are not warm and they need to be warmed up
Why wrap legs of horse during bone scan?
To keep them warm and to protect them from splashing of urine
