Q

What are the safety systems in pipelines?

A

1) zone valves
2) pressure sensing device
3) pressure warning devices
- –Alarm goes off if there is decrease or increase in pressure (45- 50 psi)

Q

What does the initial testing compose of?

A

1) Lines are filled with dry nitrogen to 1.5 times (75 psi)
- pressure is checked several hours to determine whether it is maintained or not
- > checking leakage

2) purge pipeline and cover all the wall outlets with white cloth to ensure no discoloration –> filter is working
3) 1 set of pipelines are test at a time to ensure no cross-connection (O2, C/A, N2O, N2, vaccum)

Q

What is the purpose of wall outlets(terminal unit, station outlet)? How?

A
  • locate at the end of a pipeline, used to dispense gas
  • a 1 way valve that allows gas to flow when equipment is connected
    e. g. flowmeters , high pressure hoses that lead to ventilators

15
Q

What is included in the wall plate?

A

1) ID, warnings
2) protection for valves
3) locking mechanism or release
- -> each type of flowmeter has unique thread that connect to the outlet that associated with it

16
Q

What are 2 different types of outlet?

A

1) DISS

2) Quick-release

17
Q

What is the feature of DISS?

A
  • Diameter indexed safety system
  • DISS connectors are threaded and have a unique diameter for each type of gas flowmeter/regulator to prevent erroneous connection
  • -> mated nut, nipple and seat
  • -> # of threads/inch varies between gases
  • -> bore size varies
18
Q

How many valves are installed in the medial gas outlet?

A

2 valves

  • outer valve –> primary valve (usually closed)
  • inner valve –> secondary valve (usually opened, close when fixing primary valve)
19
Q

Does vaccum outlet has 2 valve?

A

no, it only has the primary valve
