Where does OxPhos happen?

A

In the IMM, a secondary membrane in the mitochondria that forms cristae. The enzymes are imbedded in the membrane

Where does the mitochondria come from?

A

The idea is that the mitochondria arrose from endocytosis of a cyanobacteria, as theyposses their own genome, membranes, own prot synthesis mechanism that ressembles prokaryotic, uses fMet (as prokaryotes do), and are affected by several Abx

What is the 2 steps of OxPhos

A

Well-Ox-transfer of electrons of NADH or FADH2 to O2, translocating protons across the membrane. Phos-the PMF is transolcated back, using the energy to phosphorylate ADP to ATP

So what are the basic enzymes of OxPhos?

A

NADH Dehydrogenase (complex i), Ubiquinone dehydrogenase (Complex III), cytochrome C oxidase (Complex IV) and succinate dehydrogenase (Complex II)-and carriers_Ubq and CytC

What are the steps of the Ox part of the ETC?

A

When NADH transfer electrons to CI, which transfers to Ubq, then CIII, then CytC, then CcO, which finally transfers 2e to o2 making H2O - uses the basis REDOX potential

What is the enzyme of the Phos?

A

F1F0 ATP synthase-made of the F0 is in the membrane, made of the a and c parts (electrons pass through), mouvement is passed down by gamma stalk to alpha and beta subunits (F1) which make ATP
