Get it together Flashcards

1
Q

What is the role of fibrinopeptides? 27

A

increases vascular permeability, and recruits neutrophils/macrophages (results from vascular injury, and leads to hyper acute rejection)

Q

What does the kinin cascade do? 27

A

secretes bradykinin, which acts as a vasodilator, smooth muscle contraction, and vascular permeability increases (results from vascular injury, and leads to hyper acute rejection)

Q

Microcytotoxicity Test for Preformed Abs

A
  1. Add donor cells to recipient serum (with recipient Abs)
  2. Complement is added
  3. Dye is added
  4. If the MAC forms pores in donor cells, and dye enters then we know that preformed Abs were there

*match it with recipient test to see if they’re a match

Q

Microcytotoxicity Test for Class I HLA

A
  1. Add commercial Abs
  2. Add complement
  3. Add dye
  4. If dye gets in to both R and D cells then they’re a match

Q

Mixed Lymphocyte Response

A
  1. Add radiation to D cells so they won’t proliferate, but they can serve as APCs
  2. Mix with R cells and add 3H-thymidine
  3. The radioactivity is incorporated in DNA, and allows proliferation —> means they are NOT a match
    - If radioactivity is not incorporated then R cells don’t proliferate and they are a match

*for HLA II

Q

Direct Allorecogniation vs. Indirect

A
  1. R’s T cells recognize stuff from D’s APCs
