Name four of the seven key things to remember when marshalling.

A

A banksman must be used.

Discuss and agree manoeuvre with driver before starting.

Use the agreed hand signals.

Banksman to remain in drivers line of sight at all times. Driver WILL stop is sight of banksman is lost.

Driver has the final say regarding vehicle manoeuvres.

Make positive signals that can be clearly understood.

Be aware of surroundings at ALL times.

What is the signal for ‘advance’ when marshalling?

A

Use the right hand and a forearm vertically, palm away from driver drawing the vehicle onwards and calling “come on” if necessary

A

Extend arm and clenched fist sideways from the shoulder in the direction of the REAR of the vehicle is to be steered.

Raise the right hand and arm vertically, palm facing the driver, fingers extended but together and shout “stop” loud and clear

A

Use both hands and forearms with palms facing the driver “pushing” the vehicle back and calling “go on” if necessary.
