How does a gas create pressure?

A

Gas particles move around randomly. The more energy they nave the faster they move, so the higher chance they collide with the side of the container. When a particle collides with the side of the container, it will exert a force.

A

The more energy the particles have the more they move around at a faster speed. This increases the chance of the particles colliding with the side of the container and when they do they collide with more force.

Why does a bubble get larger as it rises in water?

A

As the bubble rises the pressure exerted on it decreases. This means the pressure outwards from the bubble is larger then that pushing inwards. The bubble will expand until both pressures reach an equilibrium.
