Urinary Bladder and Genitalia Flashcards
1
Q
Trigone of Bladder
A
- Smooth muscle that doesn’t stretch
- Ensures the bladder doesn;t collapse at the angle at which the ureters enter the bladder
2
Q
Detrusor Muscle
A
- Smooth muscle, under parasympathetic control
3
Q
Ligament which surrounds urethra in Females
A
- Pubovesical
4
Q
Ligament which surrounds urethra in males
A
- Puboprostatic
5
Q
Micturition
A
- Sphincter muscles relax and detrusor muscles contract
- Parasympathetic= pelvic splanchnic nerves from S2-s4 stimulates detrusor and inhibits sphincters
- Sympathetic= L1-L2 from hypogastric plexus, stimulates sphincters to contract
- Somatic= S2-S4 control of external sphincter
6
Q
Internal sphincter
A
- Smooth muscle
- Involuntary control
- Controlled by autonomic sphincter hypogastric nerve
7
Q
External Sphincter
A
- Skeletal muscle
- innervated by pudendal nerve
8
Q
Internal Os of Cervix
A
- Between cervix and Uterus
9
Q
External Os of Cervix
A
- Between cervix and Vaginal canal
10
Q
Squamocolumnar Junction
A
- Found at external Os where Columnar cells of Uterus meet stratified cell of the vagina.
11
Q
How is the Uterus positioned?
A
- Anterverted and Anteflexed
12
Q
Gubernaculum function
A
- Pulls down internal gonads, connects inferior pole of gonad to labioscrotal swellings
13
Q
Broad Ligament
A
- Connects uterus, fallopean tube and ovaries to pelvic wall
14
Q
Suspensory ligament
A
- Connects ovaries to the lateral pelvic walls
15
Q
Uterosacral ligament
A
- Connects cervix to sacrum
