Simultaneous Equations Flashcards

1
Q

Use substitution if one equation is quadratic

A

1) Isolate one variable in the linear equation by rearranging to get either x or y on its own.
2) substitute the variable into the equation (to get an equation in just one variable)
3) solve to get values for just one variable - either by factorising or using the quadratic formulae.
4) stock these values in the linear equation to find the corresponding values for the other variables.
